Job Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineering Graduate will support the Engineering and Maintenance team in delivering equipment reliability, asset improvement, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site.

The role will provide hands-on experience in maintaining and improving production equipment, developing preventative maintenance strategies, supporting engineering projects, and driving operational performance improvements. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to manufacturing engineering, project management, reliability engineering, asset management, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  

Support the maintenance and reliability of manufacturing assets across the site.

  •  

Assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures and implementation of corrective actions.

  •  

Participate in preventative and predictive maintenance improvement activities.

  •  

Support engineering projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.

  •  

Assist with developing engineering standards, maintenance procedures and technical documentation.

  •  

Work with Production teams to identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.

  •  

Support contractor management and project delivery activities.

  •  

Assist in the specification, procurement and installation of new equipment.

  •  

Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

  •  

Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

  •  

Support compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

  •  

Develop an understanding of extrusion, materials handling, automation and manufacturing processes.

Additional Information

This role is intended to support future succession planning within the Engineering function and develop future Engineering Managers, Reliability Engineers and Project Engineers.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including extrusion machinery, downstream equipment, utilities, material handling systems, auxiliary plant and site infrastructure. They will be involved in both day-to-day engineering support and strategic improvement projects aimed at increasing reliability, efficiency, safety and sustainability.

Experience or knowledge of maintenance management systems, CAD software, reliability engineering principles, Lean Manufacturing or project management would be advantageous but is not essential.

Potential Career Path: Graduate Engineer → Maintenance Engineer / Reliability Engineer → Senior Engineer → Engineering Manager
